Mouth Money: 30 Days – Day 1

Monday, July 12, 2010

Sister-In-Law is in town (yay!) and the goal this week is to balance Paleo Principles with the amazing restaurant food this area has to offer. Today was another delicious day in Paleo-land.

Breakfast: A BIG plate of local eggs & bacon with farm market spinach & peppers.

Lunch: A big bowl of that delicious Sausage Stew with some extra meat thrown in from the roast I made over the weekend.

Snack: A bowl of Jersey blueberries and strawberries.

Dinner: My favorite spot in Collingswood, The Tortilla Press, has BYOB (Build Your Own Burrito) Mondays. I chose my ingredients and asked for them sans-burrito; side of gazpacho; and a delicious appetizer of plantains and guacamole (not pictured).

Gazpacho, guacamole, pico, sweet potato, mixed veggies (squash, carrots, green beans), avocado slices, and spicy shredded beef.

Sleep: I went to bed yesterday a happy, full girl! Full 8 hours. Did not sleep between optimal hours and lights were blazing past dark. Goal is sunset to sunrise – I was about 2 hours off. This week is special, though!

Today’s Workout: Approximately 15 minutes finding my One-Rep Max on the Front Squat; then 3 rounds of 500 meter rows (3 minutes of rest in between). Total time spent rowing – Approximately 6 minutes. Total time actively exercising: 21 minutes. (There may have been some socializing in there as well.)

  1. All the food looks great, love the dinner, I will have to try that place! So sleeping sunset to sunrise…is that a goal in the winter too?

    • Thanks Heather! I’m doing a little sleep experimentation after reading the book “Lights Out: Sleep, Sugar and Survival” by TS Wiley. Some compelling stuff. It’s also a goal in the winter, though the sleeping hours would be longer and I’m not sure I can swing that. The idea is that we have some evolutionary programming to sleep this way. So far I love it! There’s something very relaxing about easing into sleep as the sun goes down and keeping the lights low and the TV off! I’ll keep you posted…

  2. Love the pictures. Come cook for us again!
